The Lithuanian Short Film Agency “Lithuanian Shorts” is the main non-governmental organization fostering short film culture on the national and international levels. Founded in 2012 as a platform for the promotion of Lithuanian short films, the agency has become an organization that has secured national and international recognition, implementing large-scale audiovisual projects.

“Lithuanian Shorts” collaborates with various organisations, institutions, film schools and the private sector, film festivals and cinemas, curates short film programmes and promotes Lithuanian short film industry throughout European markets: Clermont-Ferrand, Berlinale, Cannes, TSFM and others. The biggest events the agency organizes are the Vilnius Short Film Festival, Baltic short film industry event “Baltic Pitching Forum” and Baltic film mentorship program for women “Baltic Film in Film Mentorship”.

The fields of activity of “Lithuanian Shorts” include:

– Distribution and promotion of short films
– Compilation and promotion of annual catalog “Lithuanian Shorts”
– Curation of short film programs
– Organizing film education, professional development activities for the emerging filmmakers and audiovisual industry representatives
– Organization of international short film festival and industry events
– Representation of the Lithuanian short film industry

“Lithuanian Shorts” is a member of the global short film organization “Short Film Conference”, the European short film and video art distribution network “Short Circuit”, the Nordic-Baltic Shorts Network, the European Women’s Audiovisual Network (EWA), the European film festival networks “Young4Film” and “The END”, and the National Association of Creative and Cultural Industries (NKIKIA). “Lithuanian Shorts” is also one of the founders of the Film Culture Association and “Women in Film & Television Lithuania” association.

Baltic Pitching Forum
The international 7-member panel selects two Best Short Film Projects, one is awarded with participant rights at the European Short Film Co-production Forum EURO CONNECTION that is a part of the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival and other is awarded with participant rights at European Short Pitch organised by NISI MASA. Lithuanian producers’ jury will select one more project which will be given Lithuanian Producers MEDIA Award (1000 €), this initiative is co-organized with the Creative Europe Desk Lithuania MEDIA office under the Lithuanian Film Centre.


Vilnius International Short Film Festival
There are two competitions: International and National (only Lithuanian Short Films). International Jury selects three winners: Best Animation, Best Documentary and Best Fiction. National Jury selects Best Lithuanian Short Film.

Rimante Daugelaite

(Head of Lithuanian Shorts)

Rimantė Daugėlaitė has been the co-founder and managing director of the Lithuanian Short Film Agency, “Lithuanian Shorts,” since 2012, and the head of the Vilnius Short Film Festival since 2009. Rimantė has been working in the audiovisual industry for more than ten years, coordinating multiple audiovisual and film promotion projects and producing several Lithuanian short films. R. Daugėlaitė also works as an expert in European and national audiovisual and cultural funds. She is an alumna of “Berlinale Talents,” “MAIA Workshops,” and “Audiovisual Women Leadership,” and is a member of the “EWA Network” and the European Film Academy.
