Some Shorts is a film festival distribution agency started by Wouter Jansen in 2013. Through his years of experience at film festivals he noticed that there is a gap in the knowledge of filmmakers about the festival scene. With Some Shortshe tries to achieve the goal to make strong films more visible and give directors a push in their career.
We try to achieve this by helping with the development of a festival strategy, carrying out all the submissions to the festivals and dealing with the necessary film transport and information requests when a film gets selected. With everything we go for quality over quantity.
The catalog of Some Shorts includes a limited selection of strong and daring films often made by upcoming directors, both shorts (all genres) and feature documentaries. Every year we work with around 15 short films and 6 features. This has resulted in a small catalogue of films premiering at prestigious festivals and winning multiple awards over the last few years like Academy Awards, the European Film Award and main prizes at Cannes, Berlin, Locarno and Clermont-Ferrand a.o.
