LUCAS – International Festival for Young Film Lovers is Germany’s oldest film festival for young audiences and located in Frankfurt and the Rhine-Main area. The film program focuses on outstanding international productions for children, teenagers and young adults. Carefully curated feature films and a selection of short films compete for the coveted LUCAS awards in the competitions “Kids”, “Teens” and “Youngsters”. During the festival week, filmmakers, film literacy experts and professionals from all over the world meet in panel discussions, experience the festival program and discuss films with the young audience. Along with numerous side sections and guest programs, participation is LUCAS’ core feature. As moderators, festival reporters, film critics, jury members, or curators – young film fans are invited to “Get involved!” in a variety of ways throughout the festival.
